Academics
Over a Century of Excellence in Catholic Education
Preschool
St. Joseph Catholic School offers a preschool program for three and four-year-olds that prepares children for Kindergarten through a fun, faith-based curriculum, emphasizing learning through play.
All-Day Kindergarten
All-Day Kindergarten offers rigorous academics, nurturing faith, and personal growth. The program focuses on the whole child including mind, body, and spirit, through hands-on learning and faith-based activities in a supportive environment.
Grades 1-8
Art
The art program aligns with Illinois State and Diocese of Joliet standards, focusing on the Elements and Principles of Art and Design. Students explore various mediums and self-expression, enriched by Art History and examples from accomplished artists.
Technology
Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum to enhance digital learning. Teachers use varied instructional techniques and web-based tools to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons that boost productivity and creativity in the classroom.
Music
Music education at St. Joseph School enhances brain development and academic performance through hands-on learning with singing, instruments, and music creation. Students perform in two annual concerts, one at Christmas and one on VIP Day.
Physical Education
At St. Joseph School, physical education is an integral part of our curriculum, occurring twice weekly for each student. Our program is designed to develop physical skills, promote fitness, and encourage teamwork through a variety of activities tailored to different age groups.
Faith Formation
Religious Education is the number one reason parents enroll their children in St. Joseph School. Religious education occurs daily. Each school day begins with a prayer. Prayer as well as an emphasis on Christian attitude is included throughout an average school day.
Spanish
Students in grades 2-8 take weekly Spanish classes in an immersive environment where Spanish is the primary language spoken. Grades 2-5 have one class per week, while grades 6-8 have three, focusing on natural language development through listening, speaking, and interactive activities.
Reading Program
The St. Joseph School Reading Program helps students reach their full reading potential through support from a certified Reading Specialist and a library resource teacher. The Reading Specialist assesses and creates individualized modifications to meet each student’s needs
