Academic Enrichment Classes

STEM Curriculum for PreK-8 exposes students to science, technology, engineering, arts and math in fun and engaging ways.

Kindergarten through 8th grade Spanish classes at St. Joseph School are taught in a language immersion environment. More>

Students are exposed to creative opportunities in various mediums and areas of self-expression which are further enriched with Art History and examples of accomplished artists. More>

Fundamentals of music are taught through experiential learning with hands-on activities that include singing, playing instruments and moving to and creating music. Students highlight what they have learned at two concerts per year – one at Christmas time and VIP Day in the spring. More>

Physical Education occurs twice weekly for each student.  Grades K-3 cover locomotor skills where Grades 4-8 play team sports, individual sports, and cooperative games. More>

No Cut Sports & Extracurricular Activities

No-Cut Sports begin in 5th grade and include football, volleyball, cross country, basketball and track. More>

A variety of activities allow students to pursue interests such as Band, Book Clubs, Scouts, Choir, Student Council and more. More>

Student Support Services

The Extended Care program is a convenient option for families that need child supervision before or after school hours. More>

St. Joseph School offers an optional hot lunch program. On Mondays and Wednesdays lunch is ordered from a variety of local restaurants. Pizza lunch is offered on Fridays. Click here for a sample menu.

The St. Joseph School Reading Program is designed to assist students to reach their full potential in reading. More>

First Student provides bus service for St. Joseph School students in Kindergarten through 8th grade who are within District 58 boundaries. Students arrive by 7:45 am and are dismissed at 2:20 pm. “Bus Buddies” (older students) are assigned to guide Kindergartners to buses. Contact the school office to determine if you are eligible for bus service.

Personalized Approach to Learning

St. Joseph School offers two classrooms for each grade with average class size of 20 students. Teacher’s Aides support each class as needed.

  • Our graduates are well-prepared for high school, earning academic awards and scholarships.
    • 82% of SJS graduates typically make their High School Honor Roll in their Freshman year.
    • Many SJS graduates continue their studies at Catholic high schools in the area, including Benet Academy, Fenwick, Marmion Academy, Montini Catholic, Nazareth Academy, St. Francis, and St. Rita of Cascia. Additionally, many of our graduates attend Downers Grove North and Downers Grove South.
