Students are provided an encouraging, creative, and fun environment with a broad range of experiences and activities. The art program supports the Illinois State Standards and Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet Standards, and art instruction is based on the Elements and Principles of Art and Design. Students are exposed to creative opportunities in various mediums and areas of self-expression which are further enriched with Art History and examples of accomplished artists.
Students make their own choices in their art-making with drawing, building, painting, printing, collage, sculpture, and mixed-media projects. In grades K-3, grading will be based on participation and staying on task. In grades 4-8, letter grades will be given based on participation and the craftsmanship, creativity, and effort of their projects.
